Jack Bobridge wins Tour Down Under opener in Adelaide Hills

  • Bobridge claims opening stage comfortably
  • Also takes overall lead of race

Australian Jack Bobridge won stage one of the Tour Down Under after outsprinting three other members of the break that dominated the 132.6km race from the Barossa town of Tanunda to suburban Campbelltown.

The peloton mistimed the catch, closing rapidly as Bobridge crossed the line. Bobridge appeared to sit up and start celebrating too early, but he comfortably won. It also means the UniSA rider takes the race lead.
