I’m Not Sure handed good draw

Top jockey Kerrin McEvoy is expecting I’m Not Sure to race well in the Hyland Race Colours Plate (1100m) at Randwick on Saturday afternoon.

McEvoy has had an exciting week after steering Caulfield Guineas winner Shooting To Win in an easy trial hit-out at Randwick on Thursday.

He will again ride for Shooting To Win’s trainers, Peter and Paul Snowden, when he takes the ride of smart two-year-old I’m Not Sure on Saturday and is confident the horse will go well.

I’m Not Sure has drawn well and has the benefit of a race start, which was a second behind Giulietta.

His work on Tuesday morning showed he’s come on that bit more.

“He (I’m Not Sure) trialled nicely heading into his first run, and he got absolutely smashed at the start of that race at Rosehill,” McEvoy said.

“That had him on the back foot, but he regained his spot, travelled well and hit the line nicely. You’d like to think there’s natural improvement that will see him run really well on the weekend.

“His work on Tuesday morning showed he’s come on that bit more. He’s a nice individual, he won’t just be a speed horse, but he might stretch out in distance later on.”

McEvoy and Snowden spent years kicking home their share of winners as jockey and trainer at Darley.

“It’s nice to get the call-up for a few of the horses they’re keen to get me on,” McEvoy added. “This horse I’d ridden in his trial, I seemed to get along well with him, and Peter picked up on that. Hopefully we can reward him Saturday.”

I’m Not Sure is 6.00 to win the Hyland Race Colours Plate while Fireworks can be backed at 10.00.
