Hosts apologise to El Salvador for wrong anthem before Argentina defeat

The organisers of a football match at the Maryland home of the Washington NFL team have apologised to El Salvador, after playing the wrong national anthem before an exhibition game against Argentina on Saturday.

The El Salvador team looked confused when what was supposed to be their national anthem blared from loudspeakers at FedEx Field on Saturday night. Several slowly dropped their hands from their chests and many of the Salvadorans in the crowd whistled in disgust.
