Horse Racing – Mullins fears the worst for Douvan

Willie Mullins has confirmed that tests have shown the injury Douvan is suffering from is more serious than was initially thought. Mullins suggested last week that the eight-year-old had sustained a minor problem but it now appears that Douvan will miss the whole of the jumps season. Ireland's champion trainer said: "I think he is (out for the season), unfortunately. "It's the same leg that he had a problem with last year. It's the tendon on the back of the pastern, which is a fairly rare injury." Meanwhile, Footpad is 3/1 with bet365 to win the Queen Mother Champion Chase with Altior 6/4 to retain his crown for Nicky Henderson.
