Horse Racing – Cox rules out Angel changes

Harry Angel will not be dropped back in trip for the Nunthorpe Stakes at York, trainer Clive Cox has confirmed. There had been some suggestion Cox would consider supplementing the Dark Angel colt for the five-furlong Group One on the Knavesmire, but he insists that July Cup winner Harry Angel has already proved himself too classy over six furlongs to consider dropping in trip at this juncture. "I wouldn't (consider supplementing him for the Nunthorpe)," Cox said. "Clearly his performances over six furlongs are of a high-class horse and though he undoubtedly has plenty of pace, he won't be going over five furlongs. "He's buoyant over six and improving over that distance. There's enough of a programme for us over six furlongs - there is no need to look at altering his trip." The Sprint Cup at Haydock in September is a possible target, with Harry Angel 5/4 with bet365 to win that race.
