Horse Racing – Arkle the ultimate aim

Trainer Nicky Henderson is planning to aim Brain Power at the Racing Post Arkle after he made a superb start to life over fences at Kempton. The six-year-old sparkled with his jumping in a two-mile two-furlong novices' chase at the Sunbury track on Monday in the hands of David Mullins, coming home 28 lengths clear of his nearest rival. No trainer has won the Arkle more than Henderson, whose recent triumph with Sprinter Sacre (2012), Simonsig (2013) and Altior (2017) has taken his tally to six. Brain Power is 10/1 with bet365 to win in March and Henderson says the two-mile contest is the big target this season. "He's very good and a huge talent," said Henderson. "He's grown up and we let him bowl along - he will have learned a lot. The Arkle is the ultimate objective."
