Harry Redknapp will remain as QPR manager, says Tony Fernandes

The QPR chairman Tony Fernandes has offered Harry Redknapp timely public backing and insisted the club’s manager of a little over two years is “the best man” to steer the team to safety in the Premier League this season.

Redknapp’s charges currently languish second bottom in the top flight following promotion last summer and have yet to earn a single point away from Loftus Road in 10 matches. Saturday’s 2-0 home reverse to Manchester United – albeit with some signs of promise en route – condemned them to a sixth match without a win in all competitions but, amid suggestions the axe was close, Fernandes felt compelled to confirm there are no plans for an imminent change of management.
