Gordon Taylor agrees to independent review of PFA conducted by QC

• Taylor says it will examine union’s structure and operation
• Agreement comes after pressure from chairman Ben Purkiss

The Professional Footballers’ Association has recommended that “an independent QC conducts a full and open review into the structure and operation” of the union, its chief executive, Gordon Taylor, has announced in an open letter to members.

The decision follows calls for a review from the PFA chairman, Ben Purkiss, with more than 200 current and former players backing that. Taylor said the union’s board of trustees and management committee would decide whether to proceed with it.
