Golf – Stenson starts in fine fettle

Henrik Stenson is content with the way his game is measuring up even at this very early stage of the 2017 season. Open champion Stenson is preparing to tee off at the Dubai Desert Classic at the Emirates Golf Club and says some work in the off-season has already paid off, with the Swede having tied for eighth place at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship. He told the European Tour website: "It's always a work-in-progress with the game. It's always something to try and improve on and get better. "I've had a couple of good days' work and it's heading in the right direction. I'm really happy with where I'm at with my game at the moment." Stenson has enjoyed plenty of previous success in the Middle East, winning the Qatar Masters in 2006, the Desert Classic in 2007 and the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai in both 2013 and 2014. He can be backed at 6/1 with bet365 to win a second Dubai Desert Classic this weekend.
