Golf – Fowler confident of success

American Rickie Fowler has few doubts that he will claim his first Major title sooner rather than later, following another near miss at the Masters. The 29-year-old finished one shot behind champion Patrick Reed at the weekend, having come close to breaking his Major duck with a superb closing round of 67, which earned him second place outright. Fowler now has eight top-five finishes to his name at Majors and believes he has learned even more about how to take the final step during his four rounds at the Augusta National. He told the Washington Post: "I am ready to go win a Major, but this was kind of the first week that I have understood that and known that and felt that. "This is, if anything, it's a step forward and makes me feel better about going forward into the next Major - I feel like this is a year to knock off the first." Fowler can be backed at 18/1 with bet365 to win the US Open at Shinnecock Hills later this year.
