Giuseppe Rossi should have chosen USA over Italy, agent admits

  • Rossi, who was born in New Jersey, declined invite from USA
  • Fiorentina striker, 29, hasn’t played for Azzurri since 2014

Giuseppe Rossi should have chosen to play international football for USA instead of Italy, the Fiorentina striker’s agent has admitted.

Rossi was born in Teaneck, New Jersey to Italian parents, and, but opted to play for Italy, having moved to Europe just before his 13th birthday. Rossi has played 30 times for the Azzurri, scoring seven goals, but hasn’t played since 2014, and has rarely been in favour with current coach Antonio Conte. He missed out on a spot in the Italy squad for this summer’s European Championships.
