Giroud in frame for United clash

Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has recovered from a broken leg sooner than expected and could feature against Manchester United on Saturday.

The France international suffered the injury against Everton back in August and was expected to be out for up to four months.

However Giroud’s recovery has gone extremely well and the 28-year-old is nearly a month ahead of his previously expected return at the start of next year.

Manager Arsene Wenger has been pleased by the progress made by the striker and is looking forward to having him back in action, as the Gunners prepare to host United this weekend.

He said: “He is three or four weeks ahead of schedule.

“Originally we planned to have him back for competition at the beginning of next year. So he’s one month ahead.”

Arsenal have received other positive news with midfielder Mikel Arteta also in contention to face the Red Devils, having recovered from a hamstring injury.

United are available at 3.20 to defeat Arsenal at teatime on Saturday, with the draw 3.40, while United can be backed at 1.66 to secure a top-four finish this season.
