Gary Hall Sr hails My Hard Copy win

Trainer Gary Hall Sr said My Hard Copy’s win in the WA Pacing Cup was one of the best in his long career.

My Hard Copy was dropped out early and faced a huge task when trailing the field, but the huge 12,000 crowd at Gloucester Park roared when he accelerated four and five-wide near the home turn.

He’s overcome the odds against him.

Clinton Hall saluted excitedly as My Hard Copy went clear in the last 50m to take the win ahead of David Hercules, much to the delight of his dad.

“I started attending Gloucester Park as a 14-year-old, more than 50 years ago,” he said.

“This is the most exciting race I’ve seen here. There were action-packed moves all the way.”

The winner’s stablemate Northview Punter had been in front on the turn, then David Hercules fought back to regain the lead.

However, he had no answer to My Hard Copy, who was brought from Victoria to join the Hall stable in 2013.

Meanwhile, managing-owner Steve Chapman was elated with the victory after thinking he had ruined My Hard Copy’s prospects when he drew the outside of the front line at Tuesday’s barrier draw.

“There was a groan from the other connections when I drew gate seven for him,” Chapman said.

“But he’s overcome the odds against him.”
