Formula 1 – Binotto expects Bahrain improvements

Ferrari chief Mattia Binotto is hopeful of an improved performance at this weekend's Bahrain Grand Prix after making "corrections" to the car on the back of their poor display in Australia. The Scuderia were being heavily tipped to push reigning champions Mercedes going into the 2019 Formula 1 campaign having dominated throughout pre-season testing However, they had to settle for fourth and fifth place in Melbourne as Mercedes claimed a one-two finish and Red Bull's Max Verstappen took the final podium place ahead of Ferrari duo Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc. Ferrari went back to the drawing board to make some changes to their SF90 car and Binotto is hoping to see that bear fruit on Bahrain's Sakhir circuit, with the Scuderia 2/1 with bet365 to have the winning car. He said: "In Bahrain, as a team, we will have to ensure that we have understood and rectified the areas where we were weak in Australia, which therefore meant we were unable to fully exploit our car's potential. We expect to see the effect of the corrections we have made."
