Flaming Flutter was a deserved winner of the Jim Phillips Memorial Cobram Pacing Cup on Sunday when returning in a mile rate of 1:58.8.

The South Australian Derby winner began swiftly from barrier four to lead out, with trainer/reinsman Geoff Webster electing to take a trail on last season’s dual cups winner Savesomtimetodream running into the first turn.

Enjoying a charmed trip all through the race, Flaming Flutter gained a freak inside passage on turning to dash clear in the straight.

Flaming Flutter went on to score by 2.5 metres in a last half mile of 56.4 ? quarter 27.8 over the recent Yarra Valley Cup winner Smudge Bromac.

Evergreen ten-year-old Jaccka Clive also trained by David Aiken, finished third.

Elsewhere seven-year-old mare Cold Sister claimed the $15,505 Central Murray Credit Union Trotters Cup for TMO or better class (D-H) also over 2678 metres.

Cold Sister made a last stride lunge to win the day by the narrowest of margins over favourite Kvintet Avenger in a sizzling mile rate of 2:02.8, with the roughie Salute The Wind running the race of his life to finish third after a bad start.
