England beat Pakistan by 141 runs in third Test after last-wicket frustration

England beat Pakistan by 141 runs in the third Test to take a 2-1 lead in the four-match series despite being held up by a last-wicket stand of 50 at Edgbaston.

England set Pakistan a ground-record Test run chase of 343 after declaring on 445 for six, and the touring side were dismissed for 201. The home side hit 31 runs, for the loss of Jonny Bairstow, in four overs before Alastair Cook called time – leaving his team a minimum 84 overs to bowl Pakistan out. Jonny Bairstow was dismissed for 83 and Moeen Ali was unbeaten at the end on 86.
