Eddie Jones warns England ‘don’t get too excited’ after win in Australia

Eddie Jones saluted his England team’s record-breaking victory over Australia but insisted it would count for little if the Wallabies bounce back to win the best?of?three series. He has already warned his players not to get overexcited after their 39-28 win and says his side will need to play better to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in Melbourne next Saturday.

Having won the first round of the duel with his old team-mate Michael Cheika, the Australian is keenly aware his compatriots will be harder to beat in the second Test, particularly with a series defeat potentially looming large. “All we have done tonight is given ourselves one more game in the series,” emphasised Jones. “We have made history today but it is not good enough for us. It is all about next week … we can’t get too excited.”
