Duke puts unbeaten record on the line

Duke head coach Mike Kryzewski.

The Duke Blue Devils travel to play Wake Forest on Wednesday as they look to continue a fine season that has been overshadowed by the excellence of Kentucky.

The Kentucky Wildcats may be ranked first in the nation, and unanimously so in the Associated Press Top 25, but no-one has yet to get closer than 10 points to the Blue Devils who defeated Michigan State, Wisconsin and Connecticut by that margin in their non-conference schedule.

The Wildcats areĀ 1.90 to win the NCAAB Championship and Duke can be backed at 9.00.

Saturday the Eagles of Boston College visited the Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, NC and came away with an 85-62 loss. Olivier Hanlan scored 22 points for the Eagles, but was overshadowed by another fine performance from Duke freshman Jahlil Okafor. The big man was 7-of-11 from the floor and 14-of-17 from the free throw line for a game high 28 points while also pulling down eight boards and blocking four shots.

Over in Lexington Kentucky tips off their SEC play with a visit from the Rebels of Ole Miss. It’s been 10 days since the Wildcats defeated Louisville 58-50 in their biggest test of the season and with the general weakness of the Conference Kentucky is in the unenviable position of being expected to run the table.

The Rebels had non-conference victories over Creighton, Cincinnati and Oregon, but there is little in their resume to suggest they can hang with John Calipari’s side and once again over confidence is likely to be the Wildcats biggest foe.
