Djokovic primed for 2015

December 30, 2014 12:25:52 UK

Novak Djokovic is in confident mood ahead of the new season.

Novak Djokovic is seeking a winning start to the 2015 campaign as he bids to build on his successes of last year.

The world number one secured the Wimbledon title last year having finished as the runner-up in the French Open, before going on to take the trophy at the season-ending ATP World Tour Finals.

The Serb will kick off his 2015 season at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi, with the exhibition event set to take place between Thursday and Saturday this week.

Djokovic cannot wait for the new season to begin and he wants to start the campaign with a tournament victory in Abu Dhabi.

“The countdown really is on to the start of the new season starting in Abu Dhabi. We’re just days away, so I’m genuinely excited,” Djokovic is quoted as saying by Gulf News.

“2014 has been such a memorable year for me and I can’t wait to get back on the court and face-off against the world’s best players. Right now I’m feeling good, fresh and motivated to keep on playing at the very highest level.

“The first few matches of the season are always special and I’ll be looking to make sure that, in 2015, they are winners so I can get off to the best possible start.”

The 27-year-old has previously admitted he is desperate to secure the French Open title in 2015 to complete his Grand Slam collection, with Djokovic 2.62 to win the title in Paris.

The seven-time Grand Slam champion is 2.20 to win next month’s Australian Open and 2.75 to secure the Wimbledon crown for a second successive year.
