The son of West Ham’s co-owner David Sullivan has issued an apology for a “moment of madness” after criticising players Kevin Nolan and Andy Carroll on social media.

David Sullivan Jr posted several messages on his Twitter account DaveSulley during the 1-1 FA Cup tie at Everton on Tuesday night, including one expletive against club captain Nolan, who was recalled to the side. He also questioned whether striker Carroll was in fact out with a foot injury, the fixture having fallen on the player’s birthday.

I would like to apologise on behalf of my family and myself as I do not think I have represented them fairly by my tweets yesterday
