Cricketer Stephen O’Keefe fined $10,000 over offensive behaviour at pub

  • Incident occurred on Saturday night at the Steyne Hotel in Manly
  • O’Keefe had just returned home injured from Test duty in Sri Lanka

Australian Test spinner Stephen O’Keefe has been fined $10,000 by Cricket Australia for “offensive behaviour” at a Sydney pub last weekend. O’Keefe, who returned home from Sri Lanka a week ago after straining his hamstring during the first Test in Kandy, was charged under CA’s code of behaviour.

The incident occurred on Saturday night at the Steyne Hotel in Manly. CA charged O’Keefe with “conduct unbecoming of a player” and he accepted the hefty fine. O’Keefe was also issued with an infringement notice by NSW Police for offensive behaviour and being an excluded person remaining in the vicinity of licensed premises.
