Cricket – World Cup the ultimate aim

Skipper Eoin Morgan says the ultimate target for his 'talented' England side is to try and win the 2019 World Cup on home soil. Morgan is preparing to lead his team into the ICC Champions Trophy, which is also being played in England this summer, but he admits that the top priority is trying to plot a first-ever World Cup triumph. He told BBC Sport: "It is important to recognise the Champions Trophy is the halfway stage towards the 2019 World Cup - that's the real trophy we want to be lifting. That is the ultimate goal. "The talent and ability in the side is second to none. I firmly believe this is the most talented group of players I've ever played with." England have twice reached the final of the Champions Trophy, on home soil in both 2004 and 2013, being beaten by West Indies and India respectively. This time around they have been drawn in Group A, alongside Australia, New Zealand and Bangladesh and England are 3/1 with bet365 to win the Champions Trophy.
