Cricket – Woakes admits to doubts

Chris Woakes has said that there were times when he did not think he was good enough to play for England. The Warwickshire star has been one of England's top players this summer, taking 26 wickets since his return to the Test arena at Durham two months ago, including 18 victims in the first two Tests against Pakistan. England are 8/15 with bet365 to win the third Test and take a 2-1 lead in the series, while Woakes is 3/1 to be his team's top bowler in the first innings at Edgbaston. Woakes said: "I'd played six Tests and taken eight or nine wickets - which isn't a record you want to shout about. I had doubts that I may not play Test cricket again unless there were quite a few injuries."
