Cricket – Onions tips Lancashire for silverware

Graham Onions has predicted that Lancashire will be challenging for honours this season. The 35-year-old former England and Durham seamer has been impressed with the strength of the current Lancashire squad and is looking forward to the new campaign. Onions helped Durham win three County Championship titles during his time in the north-east and is keen to snap up some more silverware. He said: "The strength in this squad is by far the best I've played with, for the volume of players. "I'm 35 years old, so I'm coming towards the end, but one of my goals is that I want to win a trophy, ideally a Championship, over the next couple of years. Then I can retire happy." Lancashire, who finished second to Essex in County Championship Division One last summer, are 9/2 with bet365 to win the title this season, with Yorkshire available at 4/1.
