Cricket – Hussain backs Hales to return

Former England captain Nasser Hussain has called for Alex Hales to return to international cricket. The 31-year-old built a reputation as a destructive force at the top of the England order, striking up a fine opening partnership with Jason Roy at international level. However, Hales, who has also played 11 Test matches, has never been far away from controversy. The England and Wales Cricket Board announced a training group for potential players on Friday but Hales' absence suggests a return is a long way off but Hussain says he deserves a chance. He told the Daily Mail: "I'm not into this elite mateship, winning back trust sort of thing. Pick your best players when they are available. Alex Hales is a very talented young man." England are 4/1 with bet365 to win T20 World Cup 2020 in Australia later this year.
