Courtois refuses to write City off

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has refused to write Manchester City off and believes they can still retain their Premier League title this season.

The Belgium international has been in fine form for the Blues this season, helping them remain unbeaten in the Premier League and opening up an eight-point lead over City.

Jose Mourinho’s side extended their lead earlier this month when they won 2-1 at Liverpool while City could only draw 2-2 with relegation-threatened QPR.

However, Courtois is only too aware that the season is only three months’ old, saying: “We are working game by game, but we don’t have the title in the bag. The Premier League is very difficult and hard.

“We are trying to win with every game that is possible. But there will be a still a long way to win the title. We are working hard. And hopefully that will be enough.”

Chelsea have won nine of their 11 Premier League games so far this season, drawing the other two, against Manchester City in September and at Manchester United.

Chelsea, 1.16 to win the Premier League title outright this season, are 8.00 to beat West Brom 3-0 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
