Controversial umpire Shamshuddin to stand for India v England T20

• Shamshuddin made series of questionable calls in second T20
• Umpire is highest ranked official available for decider

The umpire Chettithody Shamshuddin will stand in England’s Twenty20 series decider against India on Wednesday despite the controversy over his performance in Nagpur.

England lost that match by five runs but India’s stifling death bowling was overshadowed by Shamshuddin’s decision-making. Having ruled Virat Kohli and Yuvraj Singh not out to strong lbw shouts in the first innings he raised his finger to send Joe Root back in a dramatic final over having missed a heavy inside edge.
