Chelsea reach Women’s Champions League last eight after hammering Fiorentina

• Fran Kirby scores hat-trick in 6-0 triumph in Fiorentina
• Chelsea hit woodwork three times in 7-0 aggregate rout

Chelsea stormed into the quarter-finals of the Women’s Champions League on Wednesday night after a 6-0 victory at Fiorentina, Fran Kirby scoring a hat-trick for the away side to earn them a 7-0 aggregate win.

Fiorentina, and in particular their Swedish goalkeeper Stephanie Öhrström, had restricted Emma Hayes’s side to a 1-0 win at home two weeks ago but any fears that the Italian side would cause an upset in the return leg at the Stadio Artemio Franchi were blown away in a dominant display. Chelsea, in fact, could have won by more and hit the woodwork three times in the first half an hour.
