Toronto Raptors edge past Orlando Magic at O2 Arena

• Toronto Raptors 106-103 Orlando Magic
• NBA commissioner says future All-Star match could be played in Europe

The Toronto Raptors snatched a 106-103 overtime win against the Orlando Magic at the O2 Arena on a night when the NBA commissioner Adam Silver hinted a future All-Star Game could be played in Europe.

The Raptors, beaten twice in London on back-to-back nights by the New Jersey Nets in 2011 including a triple-overtime epic, squandered three double-digit leads but came good in the extra period to keep up their recent hot form, recording a fourth straight win.

Orlando Magic go toe-to-toe with Toronto Raptors as NBA expands appeal | Max Whittle

The NBA Global Games match in London on Thursday is the latest display of rapid growth for basketball as it looks to attract fans from around the globe

In November last year, Florida residents were not short of sunshine and the NBA season had arrived, so there was little for basketball fans to complain about. The Orlando Magic were preparing for their sixth game of the season against the visiting Toronto Raptors. It was so hot you would not have imagined Christmas was only weeks away.

Not unusually, given their schedule, the players failed to register that the 6 November match up was a precursor to the NBA Global Games match, which takes place at the O2 Arena in London on Thursday. The sixth of its kind, it is an event that sold out in less than an hour and the league’s latest global endeavour.

NBA draft: Timberwolves get their man, and Knicks fans are sad and pathetic

On anti-climactic night, the Rockets got two stars, the Bulls got the night’s top steal – and Knicks fans booed a 19-year-old on the biggest day of his life

The Minnesota Timberwolves selected Kentucky’s Karl-Anthony Towns with the first pick of the 2015 NBA draft, the first of 60 picks of an intriguing if anti-climactic ceremony on Thursday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. A stalwart defender with impressive shooting range who stands 6ft 11in, Towns was widely expected to be the top selection. After that is when the drama started. Below are the impulsive winners and losers of Thursday night’s draft.

2015 NBA mock draft: the Karl-Anthony Towns or Jahlil Okafor debate begins

Kentucky’s Karl-Anthony Towns and Duke’s Jahlil Okafor are likely to be the first two players chosen in the 2015 NBA draft, but who will go No1?

After last night’s lottery, every team knows where they’re picking in the 25 June draft at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. That means it’s mock draft time, a yearly tradition where basketball experts compete to see whose predictions are the least embarrassingly inaccurate.

Does Gregg Popovich owe his success to Tim Duncan?

Atlanta Hawks beat the Golden State Warriors in a possible NBA Finals preview; All-Stars start falling out; Chris Paul accused of sexism; Anthony Davis makes his first three-pointer of the season count

There’s really two ways of looking at this current NBA season. We could look at how many questions we had during the preseason that have yet to be answered and be amazed that the All-Star break is almost upon us. Or we could look at the sheer number of storylines this season has produced and wonder how the heck we haven’t even reached the All-Star break yet. Time has gone much slower for some fanbases than others, we’re probably in year five or six of this NBA season in Minnesota.

> Good game Haks (No #W tonight)

The tech that I [got] right there was ridiculous. I don’t care what nobody says, I don’t care what she says; that’s terrible. There’s no way that can be a tech. We try to get the ball out fast every time down the court and when we did that she said, “uh-uh.” I said, “Why, uh-uh?” And she gave me a tech… That’s ridiculous… If that’s the case, this might not be for her.
