In a statement on their website, the Championship’s bottom club said: “Bolton Wanderers can announce that the club have today, Tuesday 15 March, parted company with manager Neil Lennon by mutual consent.

Life at Bolton has unfolded in a way Lennon never imagined but he remains up for the fight at a club where he found a wage bill bigger than Celtic’s and sports scientists ‘coming out of my ears’

It did not take long for Neil Lennon to encounter the excesses of Bolton Wanderers’ past. On his first day as manager, Lennon was introduced to the club acupuncturist and raised an eyebrow. “I had physiotherapists and sports scientists coming out of my ears,” the Northern Irishman recalls.

This isn’t to say Lennon has any problem with modern medicine’s role in football. Rather, the scale of infrastructure at Bolton in October 2014 was not replicated by on-field output.
