Pedro Caixinha paid tribute to Graham Dorrans after the midfielder’s double on his Rangers debut gave them a winning start to the season. However, the manager warned Josh Windass to improve his defensive work after a near disastrous error at Fir Park.

Pedro Caixinha will have a much better grasp on the rebuilding job required at Ibrox after watching his new Rangers team scrape a 1-1 Ibrox draw with Motherwell. The Portuguese manager was forced to use all three substitutions at half-time after a lame Rangers fell behind to Louis Moult’s third-minute opener. But the bold move paid off with one of his replacements Joe Garner levelling on the hour mark.

The result sees Caixinha’s side fall 11 points behind Aberdeen and 32 behind Celtic but will leave him in little doubt about the work which lies ahead. Stephen Robinson’s side, meanwhile, remain in 10th.
