New Orleans Saints beat Miami Dolphins in Wembley stinker

For years, Americans have been told that to truly love soccer they must learn to appreciate a 0-0 draw. At Wembley on Sunday the New Orleans Saints and Miami Dolphins served up the equivalent for British NFL fans – an error-riddled, penalty-strewn, stodgy stinker of a match between two teams the wrong side of average. And yet, curiously, 80,000 people seemed to find it a good enough way to spend three hours as the Saints won the second London match of the season 20-0.

There rightly remains a healthy degree of scepticism about whether a full-time London NFL team is viable. But perhaps this was another small step forward in realising the ambitions of the sport’s power brokers. If people tolerate this, perhaps a franchise will be next.

Former Miami Dolphins linebacker Quentin Moses, 33, dies in house fire

  • Moses was MVP in University of Georgia’s SEC championship team
  • Woman and child also died in fire early on Sunday morning

The former Miami Dolphins and Arizona Cardinals linebacker Quentin Moses has died at the age of 33 in a house fire that also killed a woman and child.

Firefighters found Moses unconscious at the house in Monroe, Georgia; he later died in hospital. The fire started around 6am on Sunday morning and also took the lives of Andria Godard, 31, and her daughter, Jasmine, who was 10.

Vance Joseph replaces Gary Kubiak as Denver Broncos head coach

The Denver Broncos have appointed Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Vance Joseph to replace Gary Kubiak as their head coach.

Joseph, 44, had been linked with the head coach vacancy at the San Diego Chargers, but performed well at his first interview in Denver on Tuesday and met Broncos GM John Elway for a second time on Wednesday. The Broncos made the announcement on Wednesday afternoon.
