The League Two club Yeovil Town have invited Harry Redknapp to help manager Darren Way in “an advisory role with the first-team”.
The 70-year-old was sacked by Birmingham City last month as the team struggled at the wrong end of the Championship table. Redknapp, however, looks set to make a swift return to football as the up-and-coming coach Way looks to tap into his knowledge.

Birmingham City sacked Harry Redknapp on Saturday evening after a 3-1 home defeat to Preston North End left the Championship club second-bottom of the table. It was Birmingham’s sixth straight defeat in all competitions and they have won one game since the start of the season. It was the former Tottenham manager’s 13th game in charge.
The 70-year-old Redknapp took over on a temporary basis at St Andrew’s with three games remaining last season after Gianfranco Zola’s resignation. Having guided the club to safety on the final day of the campaign – City won their last two games – Redknapp signed a one-year contract in May.

Well, it’s not been a classic encounter. Birmingham have, by common consensus, been slightly the better team, but that’s not saying a great deal. A possible concern for them was Jutkiewicz sitting down in the centre circle at the break, and he received some treatment before limping off down the tunnel.

One thing has tended to lead to another at Birmingham City this season and after the unwarranted sacking of Gary Rowett then the ill-advised decision to bring in Gianfranco Zola, there was a certain inevitablity about Harry Redknapp being introduced to his new public in the St Andrew’s stadium’s Jasper Carrott suite.
At 70, Redknapp is two years younger than Birmingham’s resident comedian, though many feel he too should be looking back on his best days instead of continuing to take his act on the road. Carrott still gets laughs, to be fair, while for Redknapp the amusement might not last much longer if he cannot extricate Birmingham from their predicament, but they are not down yet and confidence is always a great help in this sort of situation.

Birmingham City have appointed Harry Redknapp as manager of the struggling Championship club until the end of the season following Gianfranco Zola’s resignation on Monday. The move marks a surprise comeback for Redknapp more than two years since he left Queens Park Rangers, his most recent club management role.
A statement read: “The club is delighted to announce that Harry Redknapp is Blues’ new manager. The vastly experienced Redknapp has agreed to replace Gianfranco Zola, who resigned on Monday. Redknapp has enjoyed notable success as a manager at AFC Bournemouth, West Ham United, Portsmouth, Tottenham Hotspur and QPR.
