• Schalke and Borussia Mönchengladbach finish 1-1 in all-German match

Nabil Fekir and Alexandre Lacazette fired late goals as Lyon hit back to beat Roma 4-2 at the Stade des Lumières. Roma struck twice through Mohamed Salah and Federico Fazio to lead at half-time after Mouctar Diakhaby had given Lyon an early lead.

The Lyon midfielder Corentin Tolisso restored parity early in the second period and, after Fekir had put the French side ahead, Lacazette added a crucial fourth in stoppage time.

Leicester City step closer to qualification with draw in Copenhagen

It was one of those nights when the Champions League music played loud and clear but no one danced to the tune. The entertainment on the pitch did nothing to warm the hearts of the supporters on a chilly night in the Danish capital as Leicester were made to wait for the chance to confirm their place in the last 16.

Claudio Ranieri’s side now need one point from their final two matches to guarantee being in the knockout stage and it would be a major surprise if that landmark moment failed to arrive at home against Club Brugge in a little under three weeks’ time.

FC Copenhagen v Leicester City: Champions League – live!

7.24pm GMT

The good news for Leicester is that Ahmed Musa is fit to start despite injuring himself when he hurt himself scoring the equaliser against Tottenham on Saturday. The Nigerian played on the left in that game, but he’s starting through the middle tonight, with Shinji Okazaki dropping to the bench and Islam Slimani unavailable because of a groin problem. In midfield, meanwhile, Daniel Amartey is in for Andy King in the centre and Jeffrey Schlupp starts on the left. Luis Hernandez also replaces Danny Simpson at right-back.

6.50pm GMT

FC Copenhagen: Olsen; Ankersen, Jorgensen, Johansson, Augustinsson; Falk, Delaney, Kvist, Verbic; Cornelius, Santander. Subs: Andersen, Hogli, Antonsson, Gregus, Kusk, Pavlovic, Toutouh.

Leicester City: Schmeichel; Hernandez, Morgan, Huth, Fuchs; Mahrez, Drinkwater, Amartey, Schlupp; Musa, Vardy. Subs: Zieler, King, Simpson, Ulloa, Okazaki, Albrighton, Gray.

Riyad Mahrez volleys Leicester City to narrow win against FC Copenhagen

There may be questions to answer when it comes to their domestic form, but everything seems to fall into place for Leicester City when the Champions League anthem is played. On a night when they showed the character and spirit that Claudio Ranieri had demanded, Riyad Mahrez scored the only goal of the game to register a third successive victory in the competition that moves the English champions within touching distance of the knockout stage.

Remarkably, Leicester have now accumulated more points in the Champions League than they have in the Premier League, despite playing five games fewer. Ranieri’s team sit five points clear in Group G, have yet to concede a goal, and it would take an extraordinary set of results for them to miss out on one of the top-two positions.

Leicester City v FC Copenhagen: Champions League – live!

8.00pm BST

13 min: Leicester briefly win back possession but Copenhagen show they have a pressing game to match their possession one, and within moments the ball is back with them. There are a few groans from the Leicester fans. This is proving frustrating. Meanwhile in Brugge, Porto are 1-0 down. Well, that was hardly expected.

7.58pm BST

11 min: Copenhagen are running the show. Kvist and Delaney are popping little passes around in midfield for fun. They’re not rushing the final ball but this is very cool and composed from the Danes.

Leicester City hoping for another restorative Champions League night

The Premier League champions are struggling to defend their crown but have saved their best form for the European stage and will look for a third successive win, against FC Copenhagen

For Leicester City the Champions League anthem seems to have the effect of smelling salts. Two thrashings in the Premier League have been followed by victories in Europe’s premier club competition and, in the wake of the drubbing at Chelsea on Saturday, the challenge for Claudio Ranieri’s players is to clear their heads once again and repeat the trick for a third time.

FC Copenhagen are Leicester’s opponents at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday night in a game that cannot come quickly enough for the English champions on the back of another chastening defeat. They have lost all four Premier League fixtures on the road this season, conceding 13 goals in the process, and it would have been interesting to be a fly on the wall when the players got their heads together for a meeting on Sunday.
