Brighton’s Chris Hughton off to a flier with FA Cup win at Brentford

Chris Hughton’s reign as Brighton manager got off to the perfect start with a 2-0 smash-and-grab FA Cup third round win at their high-flying Championship rivals. Second-half goals from Lewis Dunk and Chris O’Grady ensured the Seagulls soared into the fourth round with a little help from a below-par Brentford.

The Bees were the architects of their own downfall, squandering a hatful of clear-cut chances in both halves. Their top scorer, Andre Gray, was the main culprit, heading wide on at least three occasions when well placed.
