Blades eye Wembley return

Sheffield United head to White Hart Lane this Wednesday with the chance of securing a second Wembley visit in 12 months.

Tottenham Hotspur stand in their way, with the two-leg Capital One Cup semi-final deciding who will face Liverpool or Chelsea in the final on 1st March.

Manager Nigel Clough guided his side to the FA Cup semi-final last season, where they lost 5-3 to Hull City, and the Blades boss has admitted he would love another trip to Wembley.

He said: “For a League One club to reach Wembley twice within 12 months in both major cup competitions would be fantastic.”

The Blades are no strangers to playing Premier League opposition having already defeated West Ham and Southampton in their League Cup run this season and Queens Park Rangers early this month in the FA Cup.

Midfielder Jose Baxter has warned his fellow Spurs players to expect some rough treatment from the League One side.

Baxter said: “Teams aren’t used to getting barged about, people in the faces, kicking them and not helping them up when they get kicked. It works for us.”
Meanwhile Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is likely to rotate his squad as he prepares for the sixth game of nine in January.

Striker Emmanuel Adebayor is expected to start for the first time since November following a groin injury.

Ben Davies, Andros Townsend and Paulinho are all likely to return to the starting line-up as Spurs look to reach their first cup final since the penalty shootout defeat to Manchester United in 2009.

The Blades are 10.00 to win, 5.75 to draw and 10.00 to lose to Spurs on Wednesday at The Lane.
