Biggar apologises for Ospreys performance

Ospreys outside-half Dan Biggar has apologised for how the side played in their 17-15 victory over Scarlets on Saturday.

Tries from Aisea Natoga and Dan Lydiate contributed to a 17-9 half-time lead for the home side, but they failed to add any points in the second half as Scarlets came within a whisker of securing the win.

The performance resulted in a nervy closing period for Ospreys, who went back on top of the Pro12 with the victory, and Biggar admitted that this left him frustrated.

He said: “It’s an apology from us, we haven’t played that badly for a while.

“We allowed the Scarlets to come at us, and we were lucky to get out of jail there.

“We played well in the first – in fact we played some good stuff – but we were off the pace after that.”

Despite being pleased with the result, which saw Ospreys leapfrog Glasgow at the top of the table, Ospreys backs coach Gruff Rees was equally frustrated with the performance, saying “we’re disappointed in that as a victory.”

He went on to admit that the nature of the game would have given Scarlets confidence going into the return fixture at Parc y Scarlets on 3rd January.

Ospreys are 101.00 to win Pool 5 of the European Rugby Champions Cup, with Glasgow 21.00 to win Pool 4 and Scarlets 51.00 to win Pool 3.
