Aztecs ready to face Aggies

The San Diego State Aztecs will look to avoid an upset when they play Utah State in the quarter-finals of the Mountain West Conference tournament.

The Aztecs took both games between the two sides in the regular season, but were pushed to overtime in January’s game at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum in Logan, UT before ultimately prevailing.

San Diego State cannot afford an early slip-up in the conference tournament with most projections already placing them as a three or four seed in the NCAA Tournament despite their overall record and wins over Creighton and Kansas earlier in the year.

Tied with the Aztecs for eighth in the latest AP Top 25 poll, the Michigan Wolverines ultimately won the Big Ten regular season crown with some ease winning 15 of their conference games and losing only to Indiana, Iowa and Wisconsin since the middle of December.

The Wolverines await news of who they will play in the conference tournament as the Hoosiers and Illinois meet in the opener. Elsewhere, Wisconsin will play the winner of Minnesota and Penn State, the Spartans of Michigan State await the outcome of Iowa against Northwestern and the Nebraska Cornhuskers should play Ohio State unless Purdue produce a stunning upset against the Buckeyes.

With six Big Ten schools, Iowa, Ohio State, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Michigan State and Michigan, all currently projected to make the NCAA Tournament field, Minnesota will need a run in the Big Ten tournament if they are to also make the Big Dance.

Ohio State are available at 66.00 to win the NCAAB Championship outright, while Wisconsin can be backed at 26.00, Michigan State at 13.00 and Iowa at 61.00.
