On Saturday, an anti-fascist protestor was killed after a white nationalist allegedly drove his car deliberately into a crowd in Charlottesville. On Tuesday, Trump attracted criticism for defending some of the far-right factions involved in the violence, saying: “Not all of those people were neo-Nazis, not all of those people were white supremacists.”

New York Mets apologize after mascot Mr Met gives fans the finger

The New York Mets’ season hasn’t lived up to its promise with pitching struggles derailing a team tipped to compete for a place in the playoffs, and the pressure seems to have become too much for their mascot, Mr Met.

On Wednesday night, as Mr Met made his way down the tunnel after his team’s 7-1 loss the Milwaukee Brewers, he gave fans the finger. Although technically it wasn’t the middle finger as he only has three fingers and a thumb. The team said the person wearing the costume will no longer work for the Mets.

Three British players have been given the chance to carve out careers in the NFL as the league extends its plans to make move into new markets.

The move is part of the NFL’s International Player Pathway scheme. Under the program, the players will be added to practice squads in the NFC South to develop their skills but will not be eligible to be activated to the main roster during the 2017 season.

Russian officials admit to ‘institutional conspiracy’ of doping Olympic athletes

Russian officials have admitted for the first time to a state-backed campaign of doping that involved hundreds of the country’s athletes.
