Australia coach Lehmann re-signs but likely to quit after 2019 World Cup

Australia’s head coach Darren Lehmann has formally extended his tenure until October 2019 but says he is likely to stand aside from the role at that point, bowing out after the national side’s 2019 Ashes and Cricket World Cup campaigns.

Lehmann’s contract extension was formally announced by Cricket Australia on Monday and locks the coach in for two years on top of his existing deal, which was due to expire in June 2017. Asked whether 2019 would be his last year in the top job Lehmann told reporters, “I would think it would be, yeah”.
