Aston Villa appeal against Fabian Delph’s red card

Aston Villa have appealed against Fabian Delph’s red card after the midfielder was sent off in Sunday’s goalless draw with Sunderland at Villa Park. The 25-year-old became the third Villa player to be dismissed in four games when he saw red for a challenge on Jordi Gómez.

Kieran Richardson and Gabriel Agbonlahor, who had his red card against Manchester United rescinded, also walked early this month but Villa’s manager, Paul Lambert, has denied his side are dirty.
